He was survived by his wife, Laura Chain, eight sons: Alvis Chain, William Henry Chain, twins James Jackson "Jim" Chain and John Wesley Chain, Burton "Bud" Otto Chain, Frederick Clinton Chain, David Dossett Calvin Chain, Joseph Andrew Chain, and a daughter Cordelia Catherine Chain Terry.
Burial was December 10, 1931, in Spring Hill Cemetery, southeast of Cooperton, Kiowa County, Oklahoma.
