Enlisted December 26, 1861. Was in the 12th South Carolina Battalion. 4th Regiment Company A South Carolina Cavalry CSA. 4th Regiment was organized in Janurary 1863 from the 10th and 12th Battalions. Son of Jacob & Rachel Burr. Married Adeline (Addie) Sellers.

Samuel Burr applied for pension for service in 4th Regiment Company A on September 23, 1919.
