Prescott Morning Courier-obituary-12/1/1891-"Lane-In Prescott, in the fifty-third year of her age of heart failure, Mrs. E. Lane. Deceased came to Prescott in 1876. Was the mother of the Merritt brothers, and leaves three sons and a daughter to mourn their sad loss. She was a devoted mother and a devout Christian, was widely known and much esteemed by our people, who sincerely sympathize with the bereaved. It was her dying request that she buried beside her daughter, Sarah Marlow, deceased, in Williamson Valley. Funeral takes place from the family residence on South McCormick Street at 10:30am today.
