Oscar Strange, Former Resident, Dies Wednesday
Oscar Strange,88,a redident of 920 Allen Street, Scottsburg,passed away at 4:30p.m.wednesday,May 3,at the Shalom Nursing Home in Scottsburg.
Mr. Strange was born February 28,1884 in Livonia to Peter and Janie Strange. He had lived in Salem all of his life until his illness. He was a member of the First Baptist Church in Salem and was a retired employee of the Smith Cabinet Co. His wife Mary Gardner Strange preceded him in death in 1950.
Survivors include three daughters, Mrs Frances May,Salem, Mrs.Jack Sodel,Indianpolis and Mrs.Robert Babbs,Scottsburg:three sons, Harold Strange,Newman,Georgia,Oscar Strange,Jr.,Boston Massachusetts and Morris Strange,Salem;twenty grandchildren;anumber of great grandchildren;several nieces and nephews.Two sons,Ernest and Charles preceded him in death.
Funeral services were conducted at 11.am Saturday,May 6 with Rev. Paul Patton officiating. Interment followed in the Livonia Cemetery under the direction of the Dennis Mortuary.
