During that time, in 1902 when Lillie was 12 or 13, the family relocated from Richmond County to a 44-acre farm in Buie, Burnt Swamp Township, Robeson County NC. Della died in 1906, leaving two sons, one daughter and five step-children. Older sister Bessie married in 1907 and left the household. Later that year, when Lillie was 18, her father married Mary Catherine "Kate" Terry.
On May 7, 1911, Lillie married William Gordon Britt in Buie. The Britts were long-time residents of Robeson County. Gordon worked in fertilizer sales.
In the early years of their marriage, Lillie and Gordon lived in Buie. They became the parents of six children. The first four (Leslie, Aleene, Ida Mae and W.G.) were born in Buie. The younger two (Irene and Russell) were born in Parkton where the family settled permanently.
Twenty-first century descendants live in Duplin County NC, South Carolina and California.
