Josephine was the daughter of Charles Antoine Hermans and Josephine Amelie Landwyck (Landwick, Landwijck). She immigrated with her family at the age of 3 years from Belgium. They immigrated aboard the Hilton in April 1855. Josephine married Eugene Joseph Dart on 29 APR 1871 in the Town of Green Bay, Brown County, WI.

MRS. EUGENE DART SUCCUMBS SAT.

Aged Resident Passed Away at Home of Her Son Wilbert at Walhain

Like a thunderbolt out of a clear sky, came the news of the death of Mrs. Eugene Dart, a venerable and respected resident of the town of Luxemburg, who passed away suddenly at the home of her son Wilbert Dart in Walhain on Saturday evening at 8:30 o'clock. As was customary for Mrs. Dart to visit her children, she went to the home of her son Wilbert, two days previous, and had been enjoying the best of health. her sudden demise was attributed to heart failure.
Josephine Hermans, daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Charles Hermans was born in LaGrae, Belgium on March 23, 1851, being 70 years, 7 months and 2 days of age. At the age of three years she came to America with her parents and settled on a tract of land in the town of Luxemburg, then a dense wilderness, which through untiring efforts was converted into a fine farm. On April 30, 1870 in the Chapel at Robinsonville, she was united in marriage to Eugene Dart. Following their marriage they purchased a farm of forty acres in the town of Green Bay, and in later years they purchased an additional 140 acres of land in Tonet, which was divided into two farms and are now owned by Charles Dart and Louis Vandenhouten.
Fourteen years ago they retired from active farming and purchased a home in the Village of Luxemburg, to enjoy the fruits of their many years of sacrifice and hard labor, as only the sturdy pioneers of those days knew. On June 5, 1924 her husband passed away, and since then she has made her home with her children. Mrs. Dart, through her kind and generous disposition was loved by all, and her passing will be mourned not only by her children and other kinspeople, but by all who knew her best.
Those who mourn her death are eleven children as follows: Mrs. Charles Mathey, Chassel, Michigan; Charles Dart, town of Green Bay; John Dart, Tonet; Mrs. Eugene Vandenhouten, Green Bay; Jule Dart, Sevastopol; Mrs. Louis Vandenhouten, Mrs. Victor Laurent, August Dart and William Dart, Tonet; Eli Dart, Bay Settlement; and Wilbert Dart, Walhain. Forty-two grandchildren and twenty-four great-grandchildren also mourn her death.
Funeral services were held on Wednesday morning at the hour of ten o'clock from the St. Martin's Catholic church, of which the deceased was a life long member. Rev. L.A. Dobbelsteen officiated at the last rites. Interment was in the parish cemetery.
Pallbearers were six grandsons, namely, Fred Dart, Frank Dart, Walter Vandenhouten, Louis Dart, John Vandenhouten and Elmer Dart.
The beautiful floral tributes were carried by the following granddaughters, Anna Dart, Anna Laurent, Virgil Vandenhouten, Josephine Dart, Lillian Dart, Irene Dart, Deloris Dart, Eunice Dart, Mayme Dart and Bertha Dart.
