South Bend Tribune (South Bend, Ind.), Thursday, January 4, 1951:
"Edwin L. Witwer, 1229 West Vanburen street, a barber in the Oliver hotel, died at 9:45 p. m. Monday in Memorial hospital after an illness since last September. He was born in North Canton, O., Jan. 11, 1874, and came here 54 years ago from Plymouth, Ind. On June 25, 1895, he married Minnie Schearer, who survives. Also surviving are three sons, Chester L., Russel W. and Harold, all of South Bend; three grandchildren; four sisters, Mrs. Anna Sherry and Mrs. James L. Guy, both of Mishawaka, and Mrs. Margaret Grapier and Mrs. Rhoda Kelly, both of Evanston, Ill., and a brother, Harry J., Mishawaka. Friends may call in the Welsheimer funeral home after 7 p. m. Wednesday until funeral services there at 10:30 a. m. Thursday. Rev. Frank E. Davison, pastor of First Christian church, of which he was a member, will officiate. Interment will be in City cemetery, Mishawaka. St. Joseph lodge No. 45, F & A. M. will conduct Masonic services at the grave. Also he was a member of Woodmen of the World lodge."
