Clyde Rubert Puffenbarger, 86, Head Waters, VA, died Sunday, July 22, 2001, at the Veterans Administration Center in Martinsburg. Mr. Puffenbarger was born June 13, 1915, in the Palo Alto community of Highland County, and wa the son of the late George and Dorothy McCray Puffenbarger. He was a self-employed painter and US Army veteran of World War II and the Korean Conflict. He was a member of the Crummett Run Church of the Brethren, the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 9666 of Sugar Grove, and the Disabled American Veterans. Surviving are three nieces, May Kimble, Littletown, PA, Pauline Breeden, Staunton, VA and Isabelle Kincaid, Verona, VA; a nephew, Richard E. Simmons, Churchville, VA, and a special friend, nancy Weaver, Cottonwood, AL.
The Rev. Jerry Smith conducted the funeral at 2 p.m. Wednesday at the Obaugh Funeral Home in McDowell, VA. Burial followed at the Crummett Run Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to a charity of choice. Source: The Pendleton Times, 26 Jul 2001.

He died at the V.A. hospital in Martinsburg, W.Va. Son of George Puffenbarger & Dolly (McCray) Botkin Puffenbarger. He lived most of his life on Burshy Run near Palo Alto, Va. He attended Crummetts Run Church of the Brethern & is buried in the church cemetery.

He was born on June 13, 1915 in the Palo Alto community of Highland County, a son of the late George, and Dorothy McCray Puffenbarger. He was a self-employed painter and a U.S. Army veteran of World War II and the Korean Conflict. He was a member of Crummett's Run Church of the Brethren, Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 9666 of Sugar Grove, W.Va. and the Disabled American Veterans. He was preceded in death by a sister, two half-sisters and two half-brothers. Surviving are three nieces. May Kimble of Littletown, Pa.; Pauline Breeden of Staunton and Isabelle Kincaid of Verona; and a nephew, Richard E. Simmons of Churchville.
