Donald was the son of Martin and Frances Kelley Drenkhahn. He did not marry.

THE MAPLETON PRESS - Thursday, September 11th, 2003 - Donald A. Drenkhahn, age 75 of Smithland, Iowa, died Tuesday, September 2, 2003, at Mapleton, Iowa.

Services were held 10:30 a.m. Saturday, September 6 at the Armstrong Funeral Home in Mapleton, with Pastor Karen Handke officiating. Burial was in Liston Township Cemetery, Danbury. Connie Bridgeman was the organist for the service and music was "The Old Rugged Cross" and "Softly and Tenderly Jesus Is Calling".

Donald Alfred Drenkhahn was born January 16, 1928, at the family farm in Oto Township, the son of Martin and Frances (Kelly) Drenkhahn. He attended Bluff Center Country School and Oto Public School. Donald worked on construction and a high line crew most of his adult life until he retired. He made his home in Smithland, Iowa until he entered Maple Heights Nursing Home on August 24 1999 where he resided until his death on September 2, 2003. Donald attended the Smithland United Methodist Church.

Those survivors left to cherish Donald's memory include a sister, Doris Scholtes and her husband, James, of Omaha, Nebraska; a brother, Marvin Drenkhahn and his wife, Ellen of Mapleton, Iowa; a sister-in-law, Adeline Drenkhahn of Mapleton; three nephews and three nieces and their families.

He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, Cecil in infancy and Clifford. Pall bearers were Dan Drenkhahn, Dennis Drenkhahn, Julie Drenkhahn, Debbie Drenkhahn, Vicki Scholtes and Kim Johnson. Arrangements were made under the direction of the Armstrong Funeral Home of Mapleton.
