Marvin was the son of Martin Drenkhahn and Frances Kelly. He married Ellen Coon on August 4, 1959. They were the parents of Daniel and Dennis.

THE MAPLETON PRESS - Thursday, April 14th, 2011 - Marvin Lester Drenkhahn died April 4, 2011. Marvin was born January 11, 1938, the son of Martin and Frances (Kelly) Drenkhahn on the farm where he still lived. He was the youngest of five children. In 1956 he graduated from Oto High School. Marvin's career was in farming but he also served as an assessor and trustee for Oto Township for many years.

Marvin was united in marriage to Ellen Coon on August 4, 1959. He was a member of the Oto United Church of Christ. Mar­vin loved to have his grandchildren come for the day.

He is survived by Ellen, his wife of 51 years; two children: Daniel and his wife, Julie and their children, Lee and Kay; and Dennis and his wife, Debbie and their children, Megan, Ashley, and Haley, all of Mapleton, Iowa; a sister, Doris Scholtes and her husband, Jim of Omaha, Nebraska; and a sister-in-law, Adeline Drenkhahn of Mapleton, Iowa; three niec­es; and one nephew.

Marvin was preceded in death by his parents; and three brothers, Cecil, Clifford, and Donald.

Funeral Service was Friday, April 8, at 10:30 a.m. at Oto United Church of Christ in Oto with Pastor Karen Handke offi­ciating. Message in Music was provided by Julie Hamann, Accompanist and Soloist, and included "You Raise Me Up," "Wonderful Savior," and "An­gels Among Us" on CD. Honorary Pallbearers were Marvin's grandchildren, Lee Drenkhahn, Kay Drenkhahn, Megan Drenkhahn, Ashley Drenkhahn, Haley Drenkhahn. Pallbearers were Chuck Por­ter, Mark Weber, Alan Weber, Doug Brouillette, Jim Else, Frank Weber, Curt Larson, Tom Brouillette. Visitation was Thursday, April 7, after 4 p.m. with Prayer Service at 7 p.m. at Armstrong Funeral Home in Mapleton. In­terment was at Memorial Park Cemetery in Sioux City. Arm­strong Funeral Service was in charge of the arrangements.
