Charles was born on Feb. 24, 1923, in Dexter, to Charles Sumner and Mabel Bishop Lathrop. His parents preceded him in death, as did his wife, Annie Blanchard, his brother, George Lathrop, and his sister, Alice Aldridge.
Charles is survived by his sons, Robert Lathrop and wife, Karen, of Dexter, Dan Lathrop and wife, Marilyn, of Hagerman; Dan and Marilyn's children, Philip Killough, Eve, John and Aaron Turkle and Charles and Daniel Lathrop; his sisters, Helen Greene, of Dexter, and Marjorie Garcia, of Albuquerque.
After serving in the Army Air Force during World War II, Charles taught agriculture in Kansas and at Hagerman High School until 1958, then ran the family farm between Dexter and Hagerman for almost 25 years. He was a life member of the American Legion and past member of the Lions Club, Farmers Co-Op, Greenfield Water Association, and the Hagerman Canal Board. He was also a member of the Hagerman Methodist Church.
Pallbearers will be Marvin Sterrett, John Jackson, Robert Garnett, Larry Marshall, Philip Grassie and Philip Coats.
