Isaac Chiles (78) was born April 2, 1818, in Ohio. His wife, Eliza Jane Stoner was also born in Ohio. * It should be noted that the original name was Childs.


His father (perhaps) George was born March 31, 1784, in Massachusetts and his mother, Elizabeth unknown was born Feb. 15, 1793, in Virginia and died Feb. 27, 1868, in Noble County, Indiana. (Needs more verification about parents of Isaac)


On Nov.24, 1842 in Shelby Co. Ohio Isaac Chiles married Eliza Jane Stoner the second of six children born to John Jacob Stoner and Ruth Frantz of Noble County, Indiana. The U.S. Census of 1880 lists Isaac's occupation as farmer.


On July 18, 1864, when Isaac was 45 yrs. old, he served on the jury of the first murder trial in Harrison County, IA.


In 1880 he was living in Jefferson Township, Harrison County, Iowa and farming.


In 1884 in the Directory of Jefferson County, Iowa lists Isaac 27 yrs. as a Farmer/Stock Raiser from Readers Mill, IA Jefferson County, IA.


Aug. 11, 1896, Isaac Chiles died in Jefferson County, Iowa and is buried alongside his wife, Eliza Stoner Childs at Bethel Cemetery, Harrison County, Iowa


Isaac Childs and Eliza Stoner were born in Ohio, but all their four sons were born in Indiana:
