ARREST HASTENED DEATH

DISGRACE WORRIED ARNOLD

Former Alexandria Man Passed Away at His New Home In Jeffersonville, Few Believing Him to Be Guilty.

Jeffersonville, Ind., May 13. - Charles H. Arnold, formerly of Alexandria, died at his home today with pneumonia. His family believes that the end was hastened as a result of worry over an indictment which was recently returned against him charging him with embezzlement.

Arnold was employed as local superintendent of the Metropolitan Life Insurance company until several months ago, when he was released, afterwards accepting a position with the Standard Insurance company of Louisville. About this time an indictment on the charge of embezzlement was returned by the grand jury and Arnold's trial was set down in Circuit court here for May 29. He always asserted that he was innocent and that the charge grew out of the method of conducting the office which the insurance company had in force at that time. He was respected and few people believed him guilty. He was born in Avilla, Ind., March 23, 1861.

He is survived by a second wife and two children, also by two children by his first wife. The body will be taken to Alexandria tomorrow for burial. He was formerly a resident and engaged in business at Geneva, Portland, New Corydon and Hartford City, Ind.
