Edith B. Kirkland, 86, died Friday, January 20, 2006, at Glenvue Nursing Home under Ogeechee Area Hospice. The lifelong resident of Tattnall County was a member of Glennville First Baptist Church. She was a retired secretary and telephone operator for the Sikes Telephone Company in Glennville.
She is survived by two daughters and sons-in-law, Ann and Doug McMurtry of Reidsville and Judy and Danny Watson of Glennville; sons and daughter-in-law: Michael and Dot Kirkland of Alabaster, Alabama; Jimmy Kirkland of Blairsville; and John Kirkland of Glennville; sisters, Vera Bourne and Bonnie NeSmith, both of Statesboro; 12 grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held at 3 p.m. Sunday, January 22, at Glennville First Baptist Church, with the Rev. Keith Rustin, the Rev. Jim Rogers, and the Rev. Gabe Gill officiating. Burial was in Glennville City Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Derrell Thigpen, Denny Thigpen, Keith Kirkland, Kevin Kirkland, Danny Watson, and Billy Brown.
Cobb Funeral Home of Glennville, Georgia, was in charge of the arrangements.
