Gip freighted from El Reno with a wagon and team and brought food in for everyone to purchase. In these days, freighting meant hauling supplies in a wagon pulled by a team of mules or horses...each wagon would be loaded with about 4500 pounds of freight. When freighting from El Reno there was always the South Canadian river to cross. These freighting trips would take several days. Gip lived in a sod house for one year before building a home. Gip Miller put claim on a section of land in 1893. According to some family members, he already had the land marked before the land rush, making him a "sooner." Gipson Perry "Gip" Miller & Ida Mae House started dating in 1894. Gip went calling on his girl in a two-wheel cart and they were married February 22, 1895. Gip and Ida raised five boys, Guy, John, Jake, Rice and Burt and two girls, Flora and Annie. They attended the Pentecostal Holiness Church.
