Reverend Father Francis Dermott Rabaut, S.J., entered eternal life on Sunday, October 26, 2008, at Colombiere Center in Clarkston, Michigan. He was 96 years old. He was born on June 13, 1912 in Detroit, Michigan, to Louis C. and Stella Marie (nee: Petz) Rabaut. He had been a resident of Clarkston, Michigan since 1994.

Father Rabaut attended St. Bernard and St. Ambrose Elementary Schools, and graduated from St. Paul in Grosse Pointe Farms in 1926. He was a 1930 graduate of U of D High School in Detroit. Father earned a Litt.B. Degree from Xavier University (Cincinnati) in 1935, a Ph.L. in Philosophy from West Baden College (West Baden Springs, IN) in 1938, a Master's Degree in English from Loyola University (Chicago) in 1939, and an S.T.L. Degree in Theology from West Baden College (West Baden Springs, IN) in 1945.

Father Rabaut entered the Society of Jesus (Jesuit Order) August 31, 1931, and was ordained a Priest June 14, 1944.

Father's many assignments included: Teacher at St. Ignatius High School, Chicago, from 1939-1941; Teacher, Counselor, and Director of Sodality from 1945-1947, and 1948-1956 at Loyola Academy, Chicago; Teacher Counselor, Director of Junior Sodality, and Director of Sodality, from 1956-1960 at University of Detroit Jesuit High School, Detroit; Province Director of the Apostleship of Prayer and League of the Sacred Heart from 1960-1994 at the Detroit Province; and he had served in Community Service at Colombiere Center, Clarkston, MI since 1994.

Father Rabaut was predeceased by his parents, his sisters, Mary Jane Amato and Sr. Stella Marie Rabaut, IHM; and by his brothers, Louis and Vincent C. Rabaut.

He is survived by his sisters, Carolyn Marie DePorre, Joan Marie Barrett, Sr. Marie Celeste Rabaut, IHM, and Sr. Martha Marie Rabaut, IHM; sister-in-law M. Rabaut, Virginia; and many loving nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be at the Colombiere Center, Clarkston, on Thursday, October 30, from 4 until 7 p.m., with prayers at 7 p.m. His funeral Mass will be celebrated on Friday,
October 31, at 10:45 a.m. at Colombiere.
