Services Held for Jack D Davis

Final rites for Jack D Davis, who died at his home in Houston on Wednesday night of last week following a long illness, were held from the family residence at 10:30 on Friday morning. The services were conducted by the Rev. Bill Watson, pastor of the First Baptist Church, Houston and the Rev. Leslie Dodson, pastor of the McCondy Baptist Church. Burial was in the Gibbs Cemetery seven miles southeast of Houston with the Houston Funeral Home in charge.

Mr. Davis, who was 91, was a lifelong resident of Chickasaw County and for the past 36 years had made his home at Houston. His wife, the former Miss Sara Jane Ashby, died in 1904.

He leaves a son, J E Davis, prominent Okolona business man; six daughters, Mrs. John Brand of Prairie, Mrs. J E Conner of Tupelo, Miss Lillie Davis and Mrs. T J Lowry of Houston, and Mrs. Elise Davis and Mrs. M T Ethridge of State College, Miss.; seven grandchildren and two great grandchildren.
