Funeral services for Stephen Harkless Amerson, 83, of 1379 Carling Ave., who died in a local hospital Tuesday after a short illness, will be held at 2 p.m. today in Memorial Chapel..
The Rev. Thomas J. Holmes will officiate. Burial will be in the Davisboro Cemetery.
A native of Washington County, Mr. Amerson was the son of the late J. T. Amerson and the late Mrs. Martha Cato Amerson. He attended the public schools of Washington County and had been a resident of Macon for 32 years.
Mr Amerson was retired from the Standard Oil Co. after having been employed for 21 years. He was a member of Tattnall Square Baptist Church.
Survivors include six daughters, Mrs. Ruth Turner, Mrs. J. R. Emerson, Mrs S.W. Lanier, all of Macon, Mrs. George S. Jones of Birmingham, Ala., Mrs. William Ellington of Knoxville, Tenn., and Mrs. Henry Love of Pensacola, Fla.; four sons, Dr. S.R. Amerson, Louis Amerson, both of Macon, P. L. Amerson of Little Rock, Ark., G.T. Amerson of Eugene, Ore.; one brother, Lewis Amerson of Washington County, Georgia.
