Graveside services were held Friday, December 3, 1982 at Sutter Cemetery for Ethel Margaret Baker, of Yuba City, California. Ethel, 94, died on Nov. 30th, in the Yuba City Convalescent Hospital. A native of Dallas, Texas, where she met her husband, Victor Edwin Baker. They were married on 5 March 1906, in Fort Worth, Tarrant County, Texas. Ethel gave birth to three children, Juanita Josephine, 20 Feb 1907, in Port Arthur, Jefferson County, Texas, a son, Edwin Vernon, 13 Feb 1909, in Port Arthur, and a son, Roy Gilbert, 19 Feb. 1921, in El Centro, CA. Juanita died before the 1910 US Census, and Roy Gilbert was ran over by a car 28 July 1923. Victor and Ethel had lived in Oklahoma in 1910, back to Texas until 1921. They moved to El Centro, CA in 1921 and then on to Oakland by 1930. Vic and Ethel celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary in Placerville, California, in March of 1956. Ethel moved to Yuba City after the death of Vic in August of 1956. She was placed in a nursing home after suffering a series of strokes in July of 1970. She was a member of the Yuba City Church of the Nazarene and the Veterans of Foreign Wars Auxiliary in Yuba City, California. Survivors include a brother, Carl W. Ray, of Amarillo, Texas, a granddaughter, Mrs. Joan Cochran of Yuba City, and two great-granddaughters, Mrs. Dianne Nelson and Mrs. Dawna Lee. Rev. David Pummill of the Marysville First Christian Church officiated the service, which was under the direction of the Chapel of the Twin Cities.
