Services were held for Edwin Vernon Baker, 73 of Yuba City, California, on Monday, Nov. 8th at the Marysville United Methodist Church. Burial will be at Sutter Cemetery, in Sutter, California. Baker died after a short illness with cancer. A native of Port Arthur, Jefferson County, Texas, he went to high school in El Centro, California. He married Ethel Mae Sinkinson in San Jose, Santa Clara County, CA on Nov. 1, 1931. They had one daughter, Joan Diane. Ed joined the Navy to help serve his country in World War II. He worked as a mechanic on planes. Ed lived in Yuba City for 37 years after the war. He was the owner of Ed and Louie's Market on Percy Avenue, co-owner of the Bee Hive Market in Yuba City, in 1955, and a former owner of the Fairway Market, located on Franklin Road. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Marysville; Hammonton Lodge No. 433 of the F&AM of Sutter, California; Washington Chapter No. 13 of the Royal Arch Masons of Sutter; Marysville Council No. 3 Cryptic Masons of Sutter; Marysville Commandery No. 7 Knights Templar of Sutter; Ben Ali Shrine Temple of Sacramento, California; Twin Cities Hi-Twelve Club; and the Judge W. E. Tucker Post No. 2562 of the Veterans of Foreign Wars of Yuba City. Edwin had been preceeded in death by his father, Victor Edwin Baker and Edwin's wife, Ethel Mae Baker. Edwin leaves behind his mother, Ethel Margaret Baker; his daughter, Mrs. Joan Cochran; and two granddaughters, Mrs. Dianne Nelson and Mrs. Dawna Lee. Rev. Norm Mowery of the First United Methodist Church of Marysville officiated at the church service, along with officers of the Hammonton Lodge No. 433, F&AM of Sutter County, California.

Edwin also married Hazel Houck the 21 Jul 1974 in Santa Clara County, California. They divorced in Jun 1976, also in Santa Clara, California.
