Jacob A. Eck, son of Andrew and Maria (Wedel) Eck was born in Russia May 4, 1862. With his parents he came to America in 1874 and they settled down in McPherson Co., Kan. On March the 6th, 1881 he was baptized by Elder Johann Ratzlaff and was taken into the Canton Church near Moundridge, Kansas.

February 24, 1884 he married Helena Unruh and made his home near Moundridge, Kansas. In 1895, he came with his family to Meno, Okla., and made his home on a homestead near Meno. Here he also joined the New Hopedale Mennonite church and remained its member until death. One brother, 2 sisters, one daughter Susie in her 33rd year and one grandchild have already gone before him.

The last few years of his life have been such that he was often moved to tears, especially since December 22, 1928 had he been confined to his bed most of the time, so that he often wished to go home to his heavenly reward. It was a pleasure to him if brethren would sing, read God's Word and pray with him during his sickness.

His sufferings finally ended when on August 29 at 11 P.M., 1929 he breathed his last.

He was permitted to live with his surviving wife 45 years, 6 months and 5 days. His age is 67 years, 3 months and 25 days. He leaves to mourn his loss: his wife, 2 sons, 4 daughters, 2 grandchildren, 3 brothers and 2 sisters and many other relatives and friends.

Sons: John Eck, Taloga, Okla.; Peter, unknown. Daughters: Mrs. Dina Wedel, Fairview, Okla.; Mrs. Maria Schmidt, Hagward, Colo.; Mrs. Edna Koehn, Orienta, Okla.; and Mrs. Pauline Koehn Texline, Texas. 3 brothers: Adam Eck, South Gate, Colo.; Benjamine Eck, Ringwood, Okla.; Andrew Eck, Meno, Okla., and 2 sisters: Mrs. Suzanna Decker, Taloga, Okla., and Mrs. Elisabeth Richert, Helena, Okla. — Contributed.
