Mrs. Elizabeth Richert, daughter of Andrew and Mary Eck, was born October 16, 1871, in Poland, Russia. In1874 she came to America together with her parents, settling first in Pennsylvania, later moving to Kansas.

In 1907, she together with her husband and children came to Oklahoma, settling on a farm north of Ringwood. Here they lived until they moved to Meno in retirement in 1942.

On June 25, 1887, she was baptized upon her confession of faith by Elder Johann Ratzlaff and received into the Emmanuel Mennonite church near Galva, Kansas. Later when she moved to Oklahoma she transferred her membership to the New Hopedale Mennonite church of Meno where she remained a faithful member till the end.

On November 30, 1890, she was married to David P. Richert, who preceded her in death by only 16 days.

She is survived by three daughters, Lena, Mrs. John Johnson, of Ringwood, Mathilda, Mrs. David Decker, of Meno, Martha, Mrs. Isaac J. Schmidt, of Newton, Kansas; two sons, Peter of Durham, Kansas, and Ben of Enid, Oklahoma; 12 grandchildren, six great grandchildren; and two brothers, Benjamin Eck, Fairview, Okla., and Andre Eck, Meno, Oka.

All her life she was a loyal supporter of the church both in giving and attending. For the past several years, however, she was confined to her home due to ill health. Her condition grew worse rapidly following the death of her husband two weeks ago. She passed away Wednesday evening, September 12, 1951, at the age of 79 years, 10 months and 27 days.

The funeral took place Sunday, September 16, 1951, in the O.B.A. auditorium. A short prayer service was held in the home at 1:30, led by Rev. H. U. Schmidt, and service led by Rev. Arnold Epp, the pastor, at 2:00 in the auditorium. Many friends form far and near attended.
