Morgan L. Fortney, 87, of Convoy, died at 7:52 a.m. Tuesday, March 15, 2011, at the Van Wert Inpatient Hospice Center.

He was born April 20, 1923, in Dixon, the son of the late Earl and Mabel (Miller) Fortney. On November 15, 1947, he married Mary L. (Baker) Fortney, who survives at the residence.

Other survivors include two sons, Rex (Beverly) Fortney of Van Wert and Gary (Tamara) Fortney of Phoenix, Ariz.; a daughter, Theresa (Dennis) Sites of North Manchester, Ind.; four brothers, Esten (Betty) Fortney, Arlo Fortney and Harold Fortney, all of Convoy, and Vance (Sue) Fortney of Fort Wayne, Ind.; six grandchildren; and a great-grandson.

Two brothers, Gene Fortney and Don Fortney, and a sister, Helen Plumley, also preceded him in death.

Funeral services will be conducted at 10:30 a.m. Friday, March 18, at Countryside Chapel United Methodist Church near Convoy, with the Rev. Wayne Kargas officiating. Burial will be in IOOF Cemetery in Convoy.

Calling hours are from 2-7 p.m. Thursday, March 17, at Cowan & Son Funeral Home in Van Wert and an hour prior to services Friday at the church.
