STEVENS
Mason Clifford, passed away at Midwest City Memorial Hospital April 6. He was born Oct. 19, 1909 near Harrah, OK.
He graduated from McLoud High School and lived in the McLoud area most of his life, moving to an acreage near Tinker Field in 1952.
Mr. Stevens retired from Tinker Air Force Base in 1976, having been employed as an aircraft electrician. He was a veteran of WWII with the 7th Armored Division, M/Sgt. in the 147 Armored Signal Corps in the Rhineland, northern France and central Europe.
He recieved the Bronze Star Medal and four Bronze Service Stars.
He met his future bride, Ruby Shannon Klish, while home on furlough Feb. 1943. They married one year later at Immanuel Baptist Church in Shawnee, Feb. 25, 1944. Their marriage produced five children, two daughters, Sharon Lueree Stevens Ale preceded her father in death May 21,1983 and Sandra Lueann Stevens of the home; three sons, Gary Mason of the home; James A. Stevens and daughter-in-law, Mary Eubank Stevens of Harrah and Michael Shannon Stevens of Newalla. Mason is survived by two granddaughters, Laura and Minna Ale of the home, students of Okla. University; five grandsons, Chris and Eric Stevens of Harrah and Sean, Johnny and Jason Stevens of Newalla. Mr. Stevens is also survived by two sisters, Lily Reed of Witchita, Kansas and Rubye Joe Henson of McLoud; sisters-in-law, Margaret Stevens of McLoud and Marjorie Woodruff of Wichita, Kansas; also many loving nieces, nephews and a host of other relatives and friends.
At a very early age, Mr. Stevens joined the Kickapoo Mission Church of McLoud. He always enjoyed God's creativity and the wonders of nature. He was an avid gardner and took pride in his livestock and loved to restore old farm machinery. He devoted his life to his wife and children and equally had their love and respect. He will be greatly missed by all that knew him and his family will have many happy memories to cherish.
Services will be 10 a.m. Monday, with burial in Dale, Okla. Cemetery.
