WINNSBORO (Special) — Levi William Tarver, 81, serving his 20th year as Ward 8 police juror and candidate for re-election to that office, died at 12:10 a.m. today.

He died at King's Hospital in Winnsboro after a three-month illness.

Mr. Tarver was a native of Franklin Parish and a retired farmer. He was a member of the Boeuf River Baptist Church.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday in the chapel of Mulhearn Funeral Home here, with the Revs. Harold Davis and the Rev. M. W. Stroud officiating.

Survivors include his widow, Mrs. Lydia Tarver of Liddieville; two daughters, Mrs. Willie Maude Cochran of Vidalia; and Mrs. O'Dell T. Slatten of New Orleans; three sons, Percy Lee Tarver and Grady Tarver, both of Winnsboro, and William N. Tarver of Ethel; two sisters, Mrs. Alma Shipley and Mrs. Ada Carroll, both of Winnsboro; one brother, Jessie Houston Tarver of Winnsboro.

Pallbearers will be Bill Jennings, Charles Simons, Leo Searcy, Drewey Hendry, Albert Garcin, Price Turnage.

Honorary pallbearers will be members of the Franklin Parish Police Jury.
