Mary A. Dewing, 96, of Chillicothe, MO, passed away Thursday, July 31, 2008. Mary was born on November 18, 1911 to the late John A. Bell and Harriett (Smith) Bell. She was one of twelve children. Mary went to a one room school in Texas County. She worked at the Heldbrand Restaurant in Houston, Missouri and the Ozark Hotel in Salem, Missouri for several years. On January 28, 1941, she married Otto G. Dewing who preceded her in death on October 2, 2003. Mary was a member of the Fairview Homemakers Club and served as both President and Secretary of the club. She was a member of the Rolla Garden Club for over twenty years and she was a leader in 4-H. Mary and Otto farmed the Dewing family farm until 2000 when they moved to Presbyterian Manor of Rolla. Mary loved her flowers and working in the garden, as well as making quilts. She loved and was loved by all her nieces and nephews, great nieces and great nephews and many friends. A funeral service will be conducted at 2 p.m. on Tuesday, August 5, 2008 at the Null and Son Funeral Home of Rolla with Rev. R. Lee Jennings officiating. Interment will follow in the Ozark Memorial Gardens Cemetery. A visitation will be held prior to the service beginning at 1 p.m. Memorial contributions are suggested to the Rolla Presbyterian Manor.
