Mrs. W. W. Brownell died this morning at her home In Portage. Deceased had not been well since a year ago last September. She was in her 70th year. She was born in the county of Sussex, England. Nov. 16, 1825. When 4 years of age she came with her parents to America and settled on a farm in the township of Sugar Grove, Warren county. Pa. When 13 years of age she was converted and united with the Congregational church of that place, where she remained until she removed to Kalamazoo. where she resided about two years. Thence she went to the farm where she died. She was married in 1842 and celebrated her golden wedding August 30, 1892. She united with the Plymouth Congregational on coming to this city and after the burning of that church, united with the First Presbyterian of this city. She leaves a husband and the following children: Mrs. Garry V. DeLon, and Messrs. J. V., A. W., F. H., all of this city and Messrs. T. G. of Kansas City, C. D. of St. Mary's, Kan, and M. J. of Minneapolis. The funeral will occur at 2 o'clock Wednesday afternoon at the family residence in Portage Rev. John Gray. D.D., will officiate. The sons will act as bearers with exception of Thomas G., who will not be able to be present. Interment will be at Dry Prairie cemetery. Kalamazoo Daily Telegraph April 15,1895 page 1
