Grace Elizabeth Bayliss Mayfield, 72, of 429 Banks Road, wife of Shirley M. Mayfield, died Jan. 22, 2002, following an extended illness.

Born May 20, 1929, in Kernstown Va., she was the daughter of the late Roy W. Bayliss and the late Rachel Ritter Bayliss.

Mrs. Mayfield completed Nurses training at Winchester Memorial Hospital in Winchester, Va., and was employed as a registered nurse until her retirement in 1977. She was also a member of Friendship Baptist Church in Marietta.

Survivors include one sister, Yvonne Bayliss Claytor and her husband Bill, of Winchester, Va.; one brother, Roy W. Bayliss and his wife Gerry, of Winchester, Va.; three granddaughters, Amy Skipper and her husband Wes, Julie Roach and Karen Roach, all of Easley; one great granddaughter, Meghan Grace Nicholson, of Easley; 21 nieces and nephews; and several great nieces and nephews.

Mrs. Mayfield was predeceased by one sister, Audrey Bayliss Boyce; and one brother, Philip Reece Bayliss.

Funeral services will be conducted Friday at 2 p.m. in the chapel of Dillard Memorial Custom Funerals, with the Rev. Grady Miller and the Rev. Dwight Edens officiating.

The family will receive friends tonight from 6 to 8 at the funeral home.

Honorary Escorts will be the Adult Sunday School Class of Friendship Baptist Church.

The family is at the residence.
