Otto Kiertzner, oldest son of Alfred and Margaret Kiertzner, was born July 11, 1915, and passed away Sept. 10, 1969, at the Veterans Memorial Hospital, Omaha, NE. with services at the Battle Creek Presbyterian Church, Rev. Howard Dukelow officiating. Burial was in the Mt Hope Cemetery, Battle Creek, Iowa.

He was baptized as an infant and confirmed in the Midway Church. The family moved to a farm northwest of Danbury where Otto lived until he was married.

Otto attended school in Cushing, Iowa. He was a World War II veteran. He married Maurine Kendall on July 6, 1935, and farmed in the Battle Creek area.

For a number of years the couple lived in Ida Grove so Otto could work for the Iowa Public Service until he went into the U.S. Navy to serve in WW II. On return he went to farming with his father near Battle Creek and continued after his father's death.

Otto was a member of the First Presbyterian Church and served as chairman of the Board of trustees and Chairman of the Building Committee, a member of the American Legion, Farm Bureau, 4-H of which he was a leader, Lion's Club, County Fair Board, and active in Boy Scouts serving on the Board of Review.

Survivors include his wife, a son, David, at home, a daughter, Diane Schreiber of Battle Creek; 2 sisters, Fern Petersen of Correctionville, Iowa, and Dorothy Hunwardsen of CA.

Those preceding him in death were his parents, one sister died in infancy in Denmark and buried there; one brother, and Alfred, Jr. killed in World War II in Germany.
