Abraham Rockey was a native of Potter Bank, Centre County and received a fairly good common school education in English and also spoke German. With his parents he removed to Logan Twp in 1841. He purchased 400 acres of timberland and located a saw mill there. He placed some of his land under cultivation, added a log house & barn. He was a hard working man and earned the respect of all who knew him. His death occurred on his farm in 1865. He was a democrat. Early in his life he married Lydia Womeldorf, a daughter of Frederick Womeldorf. Thirteen children were born to them: Paul a resident of Freeport Ill, Jacob who died at 28 years, Rebecca widow of Lewis L Berry of Jewell County Ks, Jeremiah who was a soldier of the Civil War, John F, Thomas who was one of the brave boys in blue of West Virginia, Lewis a Union soldier of Jewell Ks, William of Williamsport Pa, Abram D a union soldier residing in Minn, Mary wife of William Runyan of Jewell Ks, Harriet wife of William Huber of Salem County Ill, James who was killed by a falling tree, Hannah married. After his death his wife Lydia married Frederick Staver of Sugar Valley, and she departed this life in Wisconsin.
