Joan Bacon White, 86, died Thursday, August 23, 2007, at home in Glennville, Georgia. The Tattnall County native began her career as an educator at the age of 17. She was a longtime resident of Emanuel County where she was Supervisor of Instruction for the Emanuel County School System for more than 25 years. She was preceded in death by her husband, James Dennis White; and sisters, Opal Kaney and Barbara Grinstead.
She is survived by a son, Dennis Bacon White of Glennville; and several cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Saturday, August 25, from the Chapel of Brannen-Kennedy Funeral Home, with the Rev. Vance Riggins officiating. Burial was in Beards Creek Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Jonathon D. Kaney, J. Lester Kaney, Jonathon D. Kaney III, Phill Hiltbrunner, Ben Shuman, John Shuman, Mark Shuman, and Grover Hankins.
Brannen-Kennedy Funeral Home of Glennville, Georgia, was in charge of the arrangements.
