Services will be held in the Chapel of Kinner & Stevens at 10:00am on Thursday, September 20, 2012 with Rev. Mack Walker officiating. Mrs. Farley will be laid to rest in the Jena Cemetery.

Rita grew up on the streets of Jena- her parents having a café in downtown Jena. At the early age of 15, she married R.E. "Gene" Farley Sr., who preceded her in death. Also preceding her in death, were her parents, her sister Jewel (Lees) Breithaupt and her 3 brothers, Fred Lees, Henry Lees, Curtis Lees. A Christian by salvation a Baptist by belief, read to defend her convictions if questioned. For many years she attended First Baptist Church of Jena, then Pleasant Hill Baptist where she was a member. Illnesses of her husband and herself prevented her from going. But on Sunday mornings she sat in her chair with her little radio and listened to KJNA. She enjoyed the music and the preaching.

Mama Reet was a caring, compassionate person she was always ready with a listening ear, a card in the mail or with food to strengthen, console or comfort. Her heart had a huge soft spot in it for people and animals that were hurting or in need. She nursed many an ailing animal back to health, when most people would have given up on it. She packed many a popsicle to sick grandkids. The outdoors was her passion. She would have rather been out mowing, building fences, tending cows or planting flowers she had gotten from someone's yard. She said many times, to her, Heaven would be the Lord giving her a brand, new lawn mower and all the green grass she could mow.

Sharing her memory are her 3 children; daughter, Nona Davidson and husband Charles; 2 sons, Gene Farley, Jr. and wife, Clovice, and Brent Farley and wife, Reacey; 5 grandsons, Brad Davidson, Britt Davidson, Justin Farley, Ryan Farley and Zayde Farley; 5 great granddaughters, Brooke Davidson, Brittain Davidson, Reagan Franklin, Sawyer Davidson, and Callie Jo Davidson; and 1 great grandson, Wesson Farley. Mama Reet will also be missed by a large family and lots of friends.

Serving as pallbearers will be her 5 grandsons, Brad Davidson, Britt Davidson, Justin Farley, Ryan Farley and Zayde Farley, her life –long friend, Bo McCartney, Sr. and Bro. Howard Ward, who was her right-hand, doing work in the yard, cemetery and errands that she was no longer physically able to do.

The family expresses their appreciation to the staffs of LaSalle General Hospital and LaSalle Nursing Home Rehab. for the excellent care given to our mother, and, to her son-in-law Charles, for being there.
