U.S. Congressman. He graduated from University of Florida in 1942 and served as a Major in the U.S. Army during World War II. After the war, he studied law at the George Washington University School of Law, was admitted to the bar in 1948 and was a member on the board of directors, for Merck & Co. and Mutual Life Insurance Co., of New York. In 1955, he was elected as a Democrat to the Eighty-fourth Congress by special election, to fill the vacancy caused by the death of his father, U.S. Representative Dwight L. Rogers, and reelected to the next eleven succeeding Congresses, serving until 1979. Not a candidate for reelection, he was a lawyer in private practice, also wasactive in the National Osteoporosis Foundation, Friends of the National Library of Medicine, and the National Leadership Coalition on Health Care. He died of cancer at age 87.
