Aged 64 years. Survived by a brother in New York City. Name spelled as on cemetery records.

County will Bury Son of a Nobleman - Sangamon county will bury the son of a German nobleman tomorrow in a pauper's grave. The story of how the late Charles Bodenhouser, who died last Friday, gave up his father's millions for love was told yesterday by J. M. Bretz, a former member of the local police department. The Bodenhouser estate lies upon the banks of the sunny river Rhine, near where the river makes its turn northward into Holland. It was here that young Bodenhouser wooed and won a young peasant maiden. His father, learning of his son's love affair, disinherited him and the young couple came to America to seek his fortune. Bodenhouser reared a family here. His wife and children died.

Following their deaths, Bodenhouser returned to Germany to visit friends, but he was like Rip Van Winkle in Washington Irving's tale, and no one knew him. Broken hearted, Bodenhouser returned to America, where he spent the remainder of his days.
