Wife of Robert Thompson , buried in Anderson Cemetery, Decatur, Van Buren Co. MI, a short distance from the family home on the edge of Cass Co. Various documents show her name spelled, Cloresa (1850 Oakland Co. MI census), Carissa & Thresa (on both of her son's death certificates), then on her father's will as Surissa & Syrsia. Her grave stone spells it, Surrissa. She was a mother of five, Polly, Sarah, Joseph , Smith & Ellen.

Polly Thompson's husband Milo was remarried to Polly Bell-a neighbor who lived just down the road. This Polly was younger and born in Indiana. Milo & his second wife left Michigan & moved to Kansas where they raised the family. In the 1860 census he had a daughter that was named Sarah that is three years old. The surname is spelled GRINNELS in the 1860 census. In the 1870 & 1880 census the name is spelled Grinolds. Daughter Sarah Elizabeth married Lester F. Jordan in N. Lansing, MI Dec. 24,1881.)
Ellen married James Sheldon 16 July 1863. James was the son of Fordyce Sheldon and Rachel Hosford Sheldon. Ellen & James disappeared and I have yet to track them down.
Surrissa's husband Robert outlived her and died sometime after 1870. I have yet to locate his death record. If he is buried by Surrissa, then he has no marker.
