Robert is suppose to be from Ireland. In many of the census records he claimed to be from Vermont. In the last record I located for him, the 1870 census, he is living in Decatur, Van Buren, Michigan. That even says that he's from Vermont.
Family legend claimed that his son Smith Thompson was from Dublin. The Irish blood would have been from Robert. Robert is my 3x gr. grandfather.
At this time there is no record located to indicate when Robert died. The family home in Cass County was not far from the Anderson Cemetery of Van Buren County. Anderson Cemetery is where his wife Surrissa was laid to rest.
