Virginia L. Boyer, 81, Altoona, died Tuesday at Altoona Regional Health System, Altoona Hospital Campus.

She was born in Bellwood, daughter of Charles and Viola (Chilcote) Myers. She married Dean A. Boyer Sr. in 1946 in Baltimore, Md.

Surviving are her husband of 62 years; three sons: Dean A. Boyer Jr. (wife, Donna) of Ball Ground, Ga., and Paul Boyer (wife, Lisa) and Dale Boyer, all of Altoona; three daughters: Sharon Gilliland, Kathy Williams and Michelle Baker (husband, Bernard), all of Altoona; two granddaughters who were raised in the home: Billie Rieger and Trina Boyer, as well as 18 additional grandchildren; many great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by all of her siblings; a grandson; a great-granddaughter; a great-grandson; and a niece.

She was a homemaker.

Mrs. Boyer was a fun-loving and happy person.

She enjoyed cooking, sewing, needlework, embroidery, flowers and gardening, music and especially spending time with her family.

Friends will be received from 10 a.m. to the 1 p.m. time of funeral service Friday, Oct. 10, 2008, at Mauk & Yates Inc., Juniata. Interment at Blair Memorial Park.
