After Knight died in New Mexico, his wife,Bessie and family returned to Bird City, Cheyenne County, Kansas. Bessie died in 1932 and is buried in Grace Cemetery, McDonald, Rawlings County, Kansas. Some of their children are also buried there.

Knight was so anxious to serve his country that he was only 14 and ran away from home 3 times to serve, finally his parents, Frederick E. Beedy and Delana T.'Harding' BEEDY let him go...since they were living in Wisconsin at the time, the others served on behalf of Wisconsin...but Knight apparently served for Illinois in the Civil War!

Knight comes from a large family...9 sibblings total...an older brother of Knight was James Beedy, my great grandad!
The two men seemed very close, even though Knight made many moves throughout the United States and James moved from Maine to Wisconsin for a number of years, then after the Civil War moved his family to northern Kansas...they must have kept in touch, as James had in his posession this photo of Knight, as a man.
