_____________
Lura Ella Beedy, daughter of Frederick and Delana Beedy was born at Philips, Franklin County, Maine, June 14th, 1852, and passed away at her home in South Wayne, Wis., March 7th, 1922.
She was one of a family of nine children, only one of whom is now living. She came to Wisconsin with her parents when four years old, where she has resided ever since, except a few years spent in Nebraska, Kansas, and Missouri.
She was united in marriage to William F. Schliem at South Wayne on Oct. 19, 1877. To this union seven children were born, Burt, Delana, Elbridge, Herman, James, Percival, and Edna, all of whom are living except Herman and Elbridge, who preceded her to the Better Land. The husband, one sister, Edna Beggs of Waterville, Washington and ten grandchildren also survive.
Mrs. Schliem was a staunch Christian, being a member of the Methodist church, which she joined in early life, always living her life as she thought a Christian should. Her cheery disposition and loving nature brought her many true friends. She always seemed young, even to those who had known her many years, and her bright outlook on life and keen interest in things of today made it hard for those who knew her she realized that she had almost reached the age of three score and ten.
She was an active member of the royal neighbors and will be greatly missed among their numbers, as well as in the home, church and community. The funeral was held Thursday afternoon from the Methodist Church at 2:00. The services were in charge of Rev. Pew and the Royal Neighbors, and the body was laid to rest in the LaDue Cemetery.
