Civil War Veteran. Enlisted on August 12, 1862, age 44, and mustered on September 2, 1862, into Company K, 11th Regiment, New Hampshire Infantry (Union). Enlistment Rank: Private.

From September 11 to 14, 1862, the 11th moved to Washington, D.C.
Battles, Skirmishes, and Engagements: Battle of Fredericksburg, Virginia (December 12-15, 1862); Siege of Vicksburg, Mississippi, (June 14-July 4. 1863); Battle of the Wilderness (May 5–7, 1864); Wounded on May 6, 1864, at Wilderness, Virginia. The regiment moved to Washington, D. C., April 20-27, 1865, and duty at Alexandria till June. Participated in the Grand Review of the Armies on May 23, 1865. Mustered out on June 4, 1865, at Alexandria, Virginia.

Filed for Invalid Pension on April 21, 1870 (Application No. 281,009 and Certificate No. 207,655).
