Funeral: 1 p.m. Wednesday in Mulkey-Mason, Jack Schmitz & Son Funeral Home Chapel, 705 N. Locust, Denton, with the Rev. John Church officiating. Interment: Valley View Cemetery in Valley View. Visitation: The family will receive friends 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
She was born Sept. 16, 1920, in Newark to William Avery and Annie Lee Lynn Rasbury. She was a graduate of Decatur High School and cosmetology school and worked as a cosmetologist and homemaker. She was married to Col. Jess E. Schmidt on Oct. 23, 1943, in Fort Worth; he died in November 1993, after a military career that took them to many worldwide places -- England, Germany, Japan and many other places. They returned to Denton to make their home, and she became a member of First Baptist Church in 1960.
Survivors: Daughter, Pamela J. Edwards of Waco; son, Kenneth Ralph Schmidt of Denton; sisters, Alma Jean Walker and husband, Hestel, and Minnie Lee Locke-Morris, all of North Richland Hills; brother, Guinn Rasbury and wife, Linda, of Houston; grandchildren, Audrey and husband, the Rev. John Church, and Tina and Matt Schmidt; great-grandchildren, Chantel Schmidt and Kallie, Tyer and Courtney Church; several nieces and nephews; and many other extended family members and friends.
