Byron Arthur West was born in Ogden, Weber, Utah. He is the son of Chauncey Walker West and Martha Jointer. He married Annie Elizabeth Butler 20 September 1899 in Salt Lake City, Salt Lake County, Utah. After Annie's death in 1904 Byron moved to Los Angeles where he remained until his health declined. Byron worked for the hotel business for many years and was a member of the Hotel Greeters of America organization. When he could no longer manage his own care he moved to Denver, Colorado and lived in the Greeters Home for Hotel Clerks, 1702 Ulster St., Denver, Colorado, for the remainder of his life. According to his death certificate Byron died on March 11, 1946 at 7:30 AM at the Greeters Home. His life spanned some 76 years, 10 months and 17 days. Immediate cause of death was coronary thrombosis which was due to arteriole sclerosis. Interment was Thursday, March 14, 1946 at 11:00AM in Fairmount Cemetery.
