Son of Isaac Stone and Elizabeth/Rebecca Whitworth. Grandson of William Stone who served in the Virginia State troops during the Revolutionary War. Asher married Judith Royall. They had nine children including Rebecca Frances Stone Wheatley and John Marshall Stone who was a distinguished soldier during the Civil War. John Marshall Stone became governor of Mississipppi and is that state's longest serving governor.
