Rev. R.B. Hines suffered stroke of Paralysis While Conducting Services - He May Recover
Statesville, August 19 - Rev. R. B. Hines, of Mount Airy, suffered a stroke of paralysis yesterday about noon at Trinity Methodist church, Concord township, where he has been since Sunday assisting Rev. R. M. Taylor, of Statesville, in a meeting, and was speechless until today. A couch was prepared for him in the church and he he has not been moved since the stroke came. He has been able to speak a few rational words today, and it is thought that he will recover. Mrs. Hines has been notified of her husband's condition and is expected here tonight. Mr. Hines had finished his morning sermon and had called on Mr. Taylor to pray, and it was during the prayer that he suffered the stroke. Mr. Hines is about 52 years old.

Stricken with paralysis ten days ago while holding services, minster grew steadily worse till end came - not engaged in active ministry.
Statesville, August 28 - Rev R. B. Hines, who was stricken with paralysis while assisting in a meeting at Trinity Methodist church, seven miles north of town, a week ago last Friday, died this morning about 10:30 o'clock. His case was critical from the first and there was not, at any time, a substantial hope of his recovery. His wife and one grown son, who reached his bedside the day after he was stricken, were with him constantly and another son arrived last week. Mr. Hines remains will be brought to town tomorrow morning and sent to Mount Airy on the east bound train. The funeral and interment will take place there tomorrow. Mr. Hines was about 52 years old and his wife and a number of children survive. He was a business man and was not engaged in regular ministerial work, but was a local minister of the Methodist Church and gave much assistance to pastors in protracted meetings.
