W.H. "Dub" Newland, 85, of Lewisville passed away at his home May 5, 2008. He was born on March 12, 1923 in Gribble Springs, Texas to Everette and Elsie George Newland. He married Lois Clark on May 25, 1942*. She preceded him in death March 2, 1986. He then married Freddie Hobbs [Fredreacka J Baucom Hobbs 12 Mar 1987**].

"Daddy Dub" was a devoted father, grandfather, and great grandfather. He was employed by Orand/Ewing Buick for 37 years. After retirement he enjoyed fishing, traveling, camping, and spending time with his family. Dub belonged to the Lewisville Saddle Club for many years and served as president. He was a member of Northview Baptist Church in Lewisville.
Visitation will be May 5 at 5-7 p.m. at Mulkey Mason Funeral Home in Lewisville. Services will be held at Northview Baptist Church, 1981 Mill St., Lewisville, May 7 at 11 a.m. officiated by Rev. Kenneth Wells followed by burial at Old Hall Cemetery.
He is survived by his wife, Freddie, and her family; his children; Billy Jack Newland and wife, Martha of Flower Mound, Debbie Vanderlaan and husband, David of Denton, and Kenneth Newland of Argyle.
Grandchildren, Dr. Sherrie Kjar and husband, Chris of Austin, Everette Newland and wife, Jenny of Denton, Justin Newland of Denton, Maleia Newland of Lewisville, and Travis Vanderlaan of Denton. Great grandchildren, Dillon Kjar, Garrett and Rachel Newland, two brothers Ray Newland and wife, Cleo, Lafayette Newland and wife, Lockadee, and sister, Vonnie Hunter, along with numerous cousins, nieces, and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and brothers, Joe and Eldridge Newland.
