Eldridge Dean Newland, 80, of Denton died Wednesday, May 18, 2005.
He was born Feb. 26, 1925, in Sanger to Willibee Everette and Elsie Lou (George) Newland. In 1943, he married Audrey Burris. She preceded him in death on Jan. 29, 1994. On Dec. 16, 1994, he married Aileen Virgin in Denton.
He attended public schools, and was retired from Victor Equipment Company as a machinist.
He was Baptist.
A funeral service will be at 10 a.m. Saturday, May 21, in the chapel of Mulkey-Mason, Jack Schmitz and Son Funeral Home. The Rev. Joe George will officiate. Burial will follow in Cooper Creek Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, May 20, at the funeral home.
Survivors include his wife, of Denton; one daughter, Cheryl Dean Newland of Denton; one stepdaughter, Eva Jo-ellen Virgin of Denton; one stepson, Ben J. Virgin of Sanger; one sister, Vonnie Lou Hunter of Denton; four brothers, W.H. Newland of Lewisville, and Ray Newland, Joe Newland and Lafayette Newland, all of Denton; and four grandchildren.
