Born on Sept. 8, 1911 in Panola County, he was the son of Henry Pinkston Barnett and Alta Barnett. Mr. Barnett was a farmer and rancher, and a veteran of the United States Army during World War II. He served as deputy sheriff with the Panola County sheriff's department for two years, serving under Sheriff Johnnie Spradley, and retired from the Texas Forest Service. He was preceded in death by his wife, Mrs. Pearl Ratley Barnett, who died on October 22, 1971.
Memorials may be made to the Lion's Club Youth Camp.
