She married Aiden Emmett Barnes on December 20, 1887, in Houston, Georgia. They had four children during their marriage. She died on January 30, 1925, in Macon, Georgia, at the age of 54, and was buried there in Riverside Cemetery.

Census records indicate she was born in Georgia not South Carolina as death certificate & obituary state. Her Macon News and the Macon Telegraph obituaries state that she was born in Columbia and moved to Houston County.
