I finally found your dad. John Conrad Shump was born May 8, 1879 in Portsmouth, Scioto Co., OH and died May 27, 1943 in Chillicothe, Ross Co., OH. After you and your mom died he remarried a Edith Dorothy Schlag and they later divorced but not before he had two other children: Edith D. Shump born Aug 8, 1913 in Oregon and died Dec 14, 1923 in Lyle, Klickitat Co., Washington. Edith D. Schump is buried in Lyle-Balch Cem., Lyle, Klickitat Co., Washington, she was a little kid like you. John and Edith had another child: John C. Shump (do you like how Shump can be spelled Schump or Shump-and we won't even go into the German spelling), who was born March 8, 1915 and died May 10, 1994 in Vancouver, Clark Co., Washington State, he was in the Navy and is buried in Wilamette National Cemetery, Portland, Mulnomah Co., OR. I wonder if your dad ever knew what happened to his divorced family?, his obituary gave no information. I know he sent apples from Oregon to his mom and dad (Lewis N. Shump and Nannie Williams (they are buried in the Batterson Cem., Scioto Co., OH).
However did your mom and dad meet?
I wish I could have known you little cousin, know that you are remembered and cherished.
