The family moved from their farm near Bear Lake to the town of Saint Joseph, Missouri in September of 1889 to be near Rhoda's two brothers. Tragedy fell upon the family just a few days after their move when the father Frank Callahan was murdered in Saint Joseph.
"Bessie" was married on 4 Oct 1897, Buchanan, Bollinger County, Missouri to Albert Carr "Bert" Brown.
